Granada, kingdom of heaven.
The heights of the Granada mountains makes the province the ceiling of Andalusia. It is the Mulhacen, with its 3482 meters high, the highest point of the peninsula. This summit is part of the Sierra Nevada National Park, considered one of the richest natural areas throughout Spain. For itself about 1,700 species listed, of which 65 are endemic and 175 are typical of the Iberian Peninsula. Among native species highlights the Sierra Nevada violet flower which has become the flagship park. The fauna of this area consists of amphibians, reptiles, mammals, birds and a wide range of insects unique in the locality, although the species par excellence is the mountain goat. The richness of this ecosystem helped to in 1986 Unesco declared it as Biosphere Reserve.
The Natural Park of Sierra de Baza is another enclave that almost touch the sky, with peaks ranging between 1200 and 2000 meters. The trails that let you enjoy your tour curious landscape that goes from being almost desert zones in lower streams and filled with lush vegetation in the highest. Regarding wildlife, birds of prey abound that coexist with other species, such as the water snake and Viperine or shrew.
Finally, the Natural Park of Sierra Huétor is located in the foothills of Sierra Morena, which also presents a considerable height. High peaks, narrow ravines and small rivers flow are the key features of its landscape. Its oaks, maples and shrubs provide shelter to a wide list of animals that inhabit the Mediterranean here. These include the ibex, wild boar badger, wild cat, the goshawk and owls.
Sierra Nevada National Park
Location: southeast of the city of Granada, also includes the western tip of Almeria.
Facilities: the Sierra Nevada National Park has several services, in addition to the visitor centers. These include the nature of their classrooms, the botanical garden and mountain huts.

Location: Rd. Sierra Nevada, 23 km across Güéjar Sierra.
Hours: Monday through Sunday, from 9:30 am to 14:30 pm and from 16:30 to 19:30 pm
